What does an end-of-life doula do?

When the time comes, you shouldn't have to navigate it alone. As a certified Transitional End of Life Doula, Sharon sits with your loved one and your family during the dying process. She offers a calming presence, guidance, and compassionate palliative support as they prepare to pass. She is also certified as a Pediatric Doula, providing the same specialized care and companionship for families facing loss at any stage of life.

Advanced Care Planning

What is an Advanced Care Directive?

An Advanced Care Directive puts your wishes about care, finances, and final arrangements in writing while you're still able to decide. Sharon helps you prepare clear, written documents covering:

  • Requests — your specific wishes and preferences
  • Legal — powers of attorney and decision-making authority
  • Medical — your preferences for treatment and terminal care
  • Respect — how you want to be treated and remembered
  • Financial — guidance for managing your affairs
  • Comfort — what you need to feel safe and at peace
  • Spiritual — your faith, values, and beliefs
  • Funeral plans — your wishes for end-of-life arrangements

When your wishes are documented ahead of time, the people who love you don't have to guess.

What does grief support look like?

Grief doesn't follow a schedule, and healing looks different for everyone. Sharon offers one-on-one grief coaching and spiritual care support for up to 18 months after the loss of your loved one. Grounded in faith and compassion, sessions are available by phone, Zoom, or in person across the Waterloo Region — wherever you are, whenever you need it.

What's involved in funeral planning?

Making arrangements while you're grieving is a heavy thing to carry alone. Sharon helps you think through the service, the readings, and the practical decisions that tend to arrive faster than anyone expects. Whether you're planning ahead for yourself or arranging things after a loss, she'll work through it with you at whatever pace you need.

One person and one family at a time.
